Chicago wedding at Uncommon Ground (The greenest restaurant in the World), Luis and Dan –
I was so exited when Dan and Luis booked me…I knew it was going to be a great wedding right from the first meeting. It was based to two things…Love and fun, how perfect! They told me about their baby “Ozzie” you can see here how cute he is. He’s a nice dog, but camera shy. I was lucky to get a few with him looking at the camera.
There was a theme to the wedding, and it was pork/bacon/pig…and boy was it yummy!

I love this photo so much.
Look how handsome they are! Suits by J Crew.
Here’s the entire wedding party. They gave me zero problems 🙂
I wish I had a back yard like this.
Bacon & Eggs socks!
One of my favorites.
Ozzie is licking his chops for my camera, he wanted that Nikon bad!
The ceremony/reception was blocks from their house so we walked there.
Uncommon Ground on Devon is a unique restaurant. They were just named the greenest restaurant in the World (!!!) by Huffington Post. Displayed on the walls were photos of their friends photographed by Luis.
Luis is a very talented photographer…of course featured is the king of the house, Ozzie.
Hanging out on the roof top waiting for the ceremony to start.
Drool, they have the best food!! And a big thank you to the staff for being so nice.
The best ceremony ever, well done Anita Vaughan. The minute they stepped up to the ceremony there were tears. It really was one of the most touching wedding ceremonies I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing. It was so real, so from the heart, I’m pretty sure I got teary eyed, I’m certain Carolyn cried.
There were also many laughs, so so many laughs!
Went back to the rooftop after the ceremony, this was such a sweet moment between the grooms, enjoying a moment alone. One of my favorites.
And then some weirdo photographer asked them to stand on chairs 😉
They went along with my crazy ideas, love them!
Of course they had a pig cake!
Had to show this lady because I’m sure this is going to be me in a few decades, dressed in red and black from head to toe…she looked so great!
First dance.
The Breakfast Club was so much fun!!!
The maid of honor and best man were sitting next to each other, and I said ‘can you guys do something fun that might surprise Luis & Dan’ and they did this 😉
Back to the party…and if you though sitting on the sidelines you were safe from the lead singer, you’d be wrong.
Carolyn getting her party on with Dan, I’ve never seen her have this much fun. PS. Yes, I have two assistants, one is named Carol and the dancing photographer below is Carolyn. They’re both awesome.
Time for a fun random artistic photo, here you go 😉
LOVE!!!! Favorite!! Yeah, it was a full moon that night.

Luis took the photographs of our friends, loosely based on some iconic photos and those were used for decorations in the main dining room.
Luis also put together the video montage before we walked into the ceremony.
My favorite purchase was digging through box’s of stones and individually picking out the rose quartz for the rock ceremony. Dave’s Rocks in Evanston.
The day was filled with so many amazing memories. My breath was actually knocked out of me when the doors were opened for Luis and I and I saw all of our family and friends standing there. You could feel the love pouring out of that room like a tidal wave.
Then of course, the moment that we actually locked eyes and started to cry. For me it was a moment that I always dreamed of , but as a gay man never imagined it would come true.
Anita put together one of the most heart felt, loving ceremonies that I still tear up when I think about the words. It was filled with laughter, tears, and memories.
Our goal was to make the wedding a container built on our love of each other, our family and friends, and of course food! We were light on tradition but heavy on the things that mattered to us and our relationship.
I am not sure if they were being kind, but we still have guests reaching out and letting us know it was one of the most beautiful, loving experiences that they had ever been a part of.
There were only a few glitches that only Luis and I noticed so therefor not worth mentioning, just remember the day is about your love for each other.
Things will go wrong, it is inevitable. Let it go and try and bask in the love you have surrounded yourself in.
Oh, and on a final note, make sure you get a kick ass photographer. Hilda, you and Carolyn were incredible. Thank you for capturing the best day of our lives in such an amazing way.
