My friend Hilda asked me to comment on my favorite looks from the Vera Wang fashion show. I’m a huge fan of Vera’s designs, having worn one for my own wedding in May. To me, her work is pure magic. Here are my top 4 gown styles from Spring and Fall 2012.
Jacqueline – Fall 2012
This dress is one I’d suggest to a bride who envisions a new spin on a “vintage” themed wedding. The black and nude palate speaks of old world elegance, but also keeps this dress modern by straying from tradition. A chantilly lace overlay is always an excellent choice for the girl who dreams about the days of old.
Jacqueline would be stunning in a winter setting with deep maroon florals and bare tree branches. A fresh dusting of snow wouldn’t hurt, either!
Hayley – Spring 2012
Can’t you just picture this dress flowing down a grassy aisle in a garden maze outside of a mansion? The bride would pair Hayley with a fresh wreath of flowers in place of a veil. Oh, how I love the organza petals streaming down the back of the dress to create the ultimate statement train. A bride needs to look outstanding both coming and going.
Janice – Fall 2012
I’m more of a full-skirt girl, but this soft mermaid really tugs at my heart. Perhaps it’s the layers of shirred organza that form an abstract take on the classic silhouette. Maybe it’s the buttery soft satin bodice that skims ever so gently into a plunging scoop back. At any rate, I love Janice. Perfect for the tall, statuesque bride-to-be.
Joelle – Fall 2012
This is what I would imagine happens when a Gothic bride and her traditional mother collaborate on a wedding gown. The sheer black corset bodice speaks to a very bold female, while the luxurious cascade of tulle and petals is a lofty princess dream. What better way to represent yourself while still holding true to the tradition of a wedding gown?
