From the Bride…
‘Dress: Reem Acra
Shoes: Kate Spade– I. love. these. shoes.
Tux: Vera Wang for Men’s Wearhouse (Brian is still mad at me for making him wear a gray tux, but it was the right choice)
Rings: United Gem– Dara was awesome and helped us find just what we wanted. She even designed my engagement ring (with a bit of help from Brian)!
Hair and Makeup: Melissa Murphy at Jonathan Breitung Salon– Part of my glow was because I was marrying my best friend. The other part was because Melissa is such a wonderful stylist and did my makeup just right!
Bridesmaids’ dresses: Ann Taylor
Flowers: Pollen – Lynn was amazing. I know nothing about flowers (at all) and so I basically told her that I wanted something “pretty” in “fall colors” and she somehow (very patiently) came up with exactly what I wanted!
DJ: Natalie from Toast and Jam– Natalie was awesome. She was super patient with us when picking out first parent dance songs and she kept the dance floor full all night. I didn’t worry about a thing with Natalie in charge of the pacing and timing of all the events- everything was perfect.
Cake: Bittersweet – Super easy to work with and I think that the cake came out wonderfully- it was red velvet…yum (flowers on cake from Pollen).
Gibson’s: Wow! This could not have been better. I wanted to have our reception somewhere that had an on-site kitchen because the quality of the food that we served was really important to both of us. We got so many compliments on the food and the service was outstanding.
St Clement: Obviously, a beautiful venue. Father Manny made everything so personal by reading our own words about one another (surprise!) at the ceremony.
Favorite memory- I have a few:
-Seeing Brian at the end of the aisle waiting for me when the doors swung open. Despite being nervous, I knew that everything was okay when I finally made it to him and grabbed his hand.
-Having everyone we know and love in one room together for US. Getting to share our special day with everyone we love made it that much more special…and so much fun.
-My dad’s speech. Classic. So, so funny and perfect.
-The surprise “bubble” first dance that Hilda arranged. So fun and whimsical.
My favorite wedding related purchase was probably my dress. I knew it was right because it fit perfectly when I first tried it on (I actually had to gain about 5 pounds for it to fit right with NO alterations on the fit – you can’t beat that!). OR those blue shoes. I am still trying to figure out what I have in my closet so I can wear them again. They are too fun to “save”!
Advice to Brides: The more relaxed you are through the process and the day, the more fun it is. Let the professionals take care of the things that you have hired them for – they know what they are doing!’
