Fountain Blue wedding reception (Des Plaines, IL) |St. Juliana Parish Chicago ceremony | Kelly & Mike

It’s been a few years since I’ve been to the Fountain Blue, and I’m happy to report it’s as good as I remember. The service is outstanding, and the food YUM! I highly recommend the shrimp appetizers….and thank you to the happy couple for treating us to a hot plated delicious meal 🙂

 From the Bride…
1.  Cake:  Central Continental Bakery (Mount Prospect, IL)

2.  Dress:  Reddington Bridal (Park Ridge, IL) – for a boutique, I was surprised to find out they didn’t have an in house seamstress, and they failed to relay that information clearly when I purchased my dress.  This caused quite a nightmare for me with a short time-frame and trying to find someone to do my dress alterations last minute.  The dress purchase experience was fun, but I was disappointed with the follow through and communication about such an important detail, like alterations.

3.  Flowers:  Marge’s Flowers (Skokie, IL) – my favorite experience with a vendor (with the exception of our photographer of course 🙂 ).  Gloria, from Marge’s was wonderful to work with and I would recommend her to anyone.  She really works with you to deliver exactly what you dream up and she triple confirms the details, which I really appreciated.

4.  Tuxedos:  Emanuele Tuxedo (Morton Grove, IL)

5.  Venue:  Fountain Blue (Des Plaines, IL). Fountain Blue was also a pleasure to work with.  Our planner was Georgia and with little effort on our part, our reception turned out exactly how we imagined.  The food and service was great and the facility was beautiful.  I would definitely recommend Fountain Blue to others.

6.  DJ:  Spinnin Discs (Schaumburg, IL)

7.  Uplighting:  Elegant Event Lighting (Schaumburg, IL) – I absolutely loved the Uplighting, especially the fairy lights that we selected for behind our head table.  It really added to the ambiance of the room and was one of the best “extras” anyone could spend their money on.

My favorite wedding related purchase was actually the DIY stuff we did for the wedding.  We made our own card box, table numbers & place cards.  Although it was time consuming, I loved being able to add my own flare to our wedding decorations, and it made those details a little more special and helped tie the whimsical and romantic motif together, like I had envisioned it.
What would we have done differently?  We would not have spent our entire cocktail hour greeting people in the hall…we should have gone table to table during dinner to do that.  We would have enjoyed mingling during cocktail hour, more than sitting down for the entire dinner.

My favorite wedding memory:  I finally understand what people mean when they say, treasure every moment on your wedding day because it will fly by.  That’s an understatement…looking back, I feel like the day was a blur!  But, one of the favorite memories I do have, is walking down the aisle (freaking out about tripping on my dress), looking around at all of our family & friends in the church, and concentrating on nothing but my extreme nerves.  Then, as I got down the super long aisle to the front of the church, I finally saw my husband for the first time and became overwhelmed with a rush of emotion and excitement that brought me back to reality…the reality that there was nothing to be nervous about because it was just him and I…getting ready to begin the rest of our lives together.  I am by no means an emotional person, but It was an amazing and comforting feeling that I had in that moment, and I will never forget it.
